Makes me wonderful how old this structure is and where does it lead to – very intriguing Cara.

It leads to some old stable buildings, which have now been transformed into residential properties. The stables are part of the Lees Estate, owned by one of the old families round here. So much of Scotland is like that – big estates. There is right to roam over the estates, so there are some great walks around. Politically the set-up may not be very equitable but I like the feeling of tradition and history. Much better as it is than if the old houses were transformed into spas, or hotels, or were bought up by rock stars – or even fell to bits and vanished, as has happened all over Berwickshire.
