    • Thanks, Paul. It was such a beautiful day. The camera I have got likes a certain type of light, and it caught this well. I feel these cross-river pictures are a tad poignant for me at the moment, as we have this referendum on Thursday, and maybe in this picture I am looking across at what may becaome a completely foreign country (a country where I live).

    • It is lovely to hear from you, Cathy. I wish we were nearer. Yes, you are right about my website being a kind of diary, though most of it is in pictures. I nearly always put the latest photographs on the website, so they are a record of the changing year. I wish now I had kept diaries; so maybe this is a late attempt to do so. C x

    • Yes, I thought of Monet too, when I saw how the photo had come out, maybe Monet has made us see the world like that. I love those great waterlily paintings. Yes, the referendum hangs over us, I don’t suppose we will know the result until Friday. Sure, it is a democratic vote, but it is the tenor of the whole thing that has depressed me…
