Evening by River Tweed
Rained all day, stygian darkness at noon, so when I went out to post my Cinema Paradiso film back, took the camera to catch maybe a faint glimpse of the sunight that had at last broken through the clouds. Was photographing in the near dark, when this walker with two dogs came past. The dogs are hidden in murk. On the right is a tiny speck of water reflected from the sodden fields.

Thank you so much, Isabella. It wasn’t quite how everything looked, it wasn’t so dark, but sometimes I like the effect of silhouettes against the sky, and I liked that figure’s head, and that little reflection of the puddle, so I put the photo up on my blog as a record of a short burst of light after a very dark November day. My blog seems to have turned into a kind of visual diary, month by month, of one person’s response to this corner of the Scottish Borders.

Ah, Sreejith, it’s not quite winter yet, it’s the misty lead-in. Still some leaves on the trees, but oh so dank out there, with shrouded distances. The garden has all been put to bed, with just the last leaves on the acers giving a bit of colour. I expect it is beautiful where you live during this season.

I could only visualize the world around you as I am yet to explore the northern latitudes 🙂
I live so close to the equator and here seasonal changes are minimal.
Now, it’s the best time here, clear blue skies and moderate temperature.

Thank you, Annette. I know it looks like moonlight, but it was the setting sun (even the clouds look like they are lit by moonlight) – it was such a dark day, the whole feeling of the photograph is that this is late at night, but it was only about five o’clock. In some ways it was even darker at noon, with the heavy rain. I am glad you like the photograph.
