Hi, Mary, and thank you. I was wishing I had a camera today as we were coming back from Berwick – the clouds were amazing, layer upon layer, all different. I have difficulty painting skies, so it is nice when a photograph comes out in an interesting way. There is something about Border skies, I never tire of looking at them, and I think this has grown since I started taking photographs. Probably you have the same sense of infinite variety when you do your series of paintings of landscape elements.

Thank you so much for your comment, Wendy. Usually my blog entries are in sequence, but I came across this rather out-of-character shot whilst I was culling my old photographs, so as not to overload the computer. It isn’t an obviously brilliant composition, but there was something about it I liked, especially as I couldn’t remember taking it! You do get some amazing skies in the Scottish Borders; now that September is nearly over they have started to get interesting, which makes up for the fading of the leaves and flowers.

I love it. It looks so calm yet something’s brewing off to the background.
