Herons

watching heron

I was watching a young heron beside River Tweed, when I noticed this older heron up in the tree, definitely keeping watch on its offspring down below.

  1. Keeping watch! As you do on your daily walks in that lovely landscape of earth, water, trees, sky, birds, and small and large creatures. I am nourished by your work. Thank you.

    • What a lovely comment that is, Allison, thank you. I am so very pleased you enjoy my photographs of the Scottish Borders. My son and family gave me this camera, and now I notice things I wouldn’t have noticed before. I certainly wouldn’t have seen that heron in the tree if I was just strolling over Coldstream Bridge (the frontier between Scotland and England) thinking about something else entirely…

    • It was a surprise, I have got so used to looking downwards at herons. A ghost in the green would have been a nice heading.
