  1. The puddles remind me of the broken glass of Magritte’s “La Clef des Champs”. Thanks for sharing your rich inner/ outer world. Cathy

    • I understand that reference, Cathy. What an amazing picture – I often forget how poetic Magritte is. Those puddles in the lane always seem to be there, and this isn’t the only time I’ve photographed them. I like that single tree against the sky. It was raining for much of last night, and the wind howling across the square kept me awake, so I expect the Tweed has flooded, or at least its tribuatary, The Leet. Does that little rhyme about March go: “Comes in like a lion, goes out like a lamb” ? If it is that way round, then last night was the lion bit. C X

    • Thank you for your comment, Wendy. It’s the combination of the puddles and the tree and the sky that I like. Quite often there is a particular light here, as I reach this lane at the end of my walk and it is starting to get dark. This part of the world, one can walk for miles and not meet a soul, and it doesn’t really feel lonely as there are many birds and quite a few squirrels and some deer too. I would find it difficult to live in a city these days….
