Walking Home Through The Daffodil Wood

Walking Through the Daffodil Wood

A beautiful day, but this man and his dog were the only people I met in the wood, which in Spring is full of wild daffodils and blackbirds and these grey-trunked trees.

  1. Walking through such a beautiful trail would really be fun, with all these flowers around, right?

    • Thanks for your comment, Sreejith, it is good to hear from you.The flowers that grow in the woods and in the banks round here can amze by their profusion. People in vans were at one time driving up from London to dig up the wild showdrops so as to be able to sell them in markets down there, but this was put a stop to pronto. The daffodils in this wood are true wild daffodils, apparently. Yes, I love walking through the woods. Soon it will be time for the buebells….

    • Thanks you, Mary. The road in and out of Coldstream is lined with daffodils, all planted by one man, Dick. At one time the Council wanted to get rid of them because of the difficulty of mowing the verges, but there was such an outcry they decided not to mow until after the daffodil season. The flowers in the photograph are actually wild daffodils, this small wood is full of them.
